This journal is about me and my deal with painting. I've never been a painter, really. I've always found drawing came more natural, to the point where I actually had to be shown how to completely fill a space with color. And yet, my last post was a painting, acrylic on a 14x16" canvas with a 1" border all around that I edited out. It was a song I've tried and failed, two or three times over, to draw to my satisfaction. I couldn't get the color-saturation where I wanted it; I couldn't settle on color schemes, or exact composition, it was just a mess, but with painting, everything resolved itself. In the shop, painting that is. Possibly more. I don't know exactly when I went out, but it's 1:30 now. This is a way of saying I'm working on something new, a painting on 16x20 canvas, taped off at the sides and pretty dang complicated, especially compared to anything I've posted here that was painted. I'm still pretty new to painting in general, the number of things I've finished can still be counted on your two hands, but it still somehow feels faster, in a weird way. So far on this page, I've only posted my traditional art pieces, but I'm thinking I might change that. I haven't gotten much further on the painting I mentioned last time, and that's because I've been writing a lot. I've been practicing my short story skills, and posting them on my alternate channel, which I will never name due to the specifics of these stories.
